Suspect Arrested in Rawalpindi for Posting Baseless Information Against Institutions on Social Media

Rawalpindi, Pakistan:A suspect, identified as Muhammad Rehan, has been arrested in Rawalpindi for posting baseless information on social media against state institutions. According to the police, a case was registered under the Pakistan Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) at the Waris Khan police station, marking the first such case in the area.
The police explained that the case was filed due to the inappropriate content posted by Rehan, which was deemed harmful and defamatory towards institutions. After his arrest, the accused was transferred to Adiala Jail.
Authorities emphasized that while freedom of expression is important, it does not extend to the violation of laws and the spread of negative propaganda. The police have urged citizens to exercise caution when using social media, warning that legal action will be taken against those involved in spreading misinformation or engaging in harmful propaganda online.
