Severe Snowfall Hits Northern Areas of Pakistan, Disrupting Road Connectivity

The start of the holy month has brought heavy snowfall to several areas, including Hunza, Skardu, Diamer, Lower Dir, Abbottabad, Murree, and Galyat, leading to the closure of multiple connecting roads. In Swat, rain is ongoing in the plains, while snowfall continues in the upper regions.
In the upper regions of Swat, including Malam Jabba, Kalam, Utror, and Gabral, intermittent snowfall is affecting daily life, with temperatures dropping significantly. Due to the heavy snowfall, the Kalam-Mahodand Road has been closed to traffic, causing difficulties for local residents.
Meanwhile, in Murree, also known as the Queen of Hills, rain and snowfall continue sporadically. Areas such as Mall Road, Kashmir Point, Kaldna, Jhika Gali, and Kali Miti are experiencing increased cold temperatures due to the precipitation. Deputy Commissioner Murree, Agha Zahir Abbas, stated that the administration is actively spreading salt on roads and that service centers for tourists are fully operational to assist and guide them.
In Lower Dir, rain is ongoing in urban areas, while snowfall continues in the mountainous regions. Snowfall has also been reported in Upper Neelum, Lwat Bala, and Sharda in Azad Kashmir.
In the Jagran Valley, several houses have been damaged due to a glacier’s impact. Additionally, in Balochistan, snow has fallen in Ziarat, Kan Mehterzai, and Toba Achakzai, while Chaman, Qilla Abdullah, and other areas have witnessed heavy rainfall.
Balochistan is expected to experience an unusual cold wave today, intensifying the chill across the region.
