SBP Governor Jameel Ahmed Highlights Financial Inclusion Challenges in Pakistan

Karachi: The Governor of the State Bank of Pakistan, Jameel Ahmed, has expressed concerns over the state of financial inclusion in the country, stating that the situation is not very promising.
In a statement, the SBP Governor mentioned that efforts are being made in collaboration with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) to improve facilities for microfinance banks, as the growth of the microfinance sector had slowed down in recent years.
He revealed that only 64% of the adult population in Pakistan currently holds a bank account. Moreover, he pointed out that the number of women with bank accounts is significantly low, with 80% of men and only 40% of women having access to banking services.
