Mir Shaws Hasal Bizenjo Highlights the Importance of Mother Tongues at International Mother Language Day Event

Quetta: Senior Vice President of the National Party, Mir Shaws Hasal Bizenjo, along with Provincial President Aslam Baloch, emphasized the significance of promoting and developing mother tongues. They stated that love for one’s mother tongue is fundamental and essential, as it originates from the embrace of a mother, symbolizing affection and love.
The statements were made during a ceremony organized by the National Party and Balochistan Students Organization (BSO Pujar) in commemoration of International Mother Language Day. During the event, National Party’s central research and advocacy secretary Siddique Khitran, central women’s secretary Yasmeen Lehri, district vice president Hanif Kakrani, Syra Batool, and BSO Pujar central committee member Haq Nawaz Shah also spoke and presented papers on the subject. The ceremony was hosted by District General Secretary Riyaz Zehri.
Mir Shaws Hasal Bizenjo emphasized that the National Party, during its short term in power, had made legislative efforts to include mother languages in the curriculum and began the process of creating textbooks in these languages. However, he expressed disappointment that after the National Party’s tenure, these efforts were halted. He further mentioned that the National Party had increased grants for the Balochi, Brahui, and Pashto Academies to encourage the promotion of mother languages and their importance in publishing and literacy.
The leaders also criticized the state for continuously denying the existence of different ethnicities and their cultural identity, distorting their history, and implementing policies that undermined the recognition of cultural diversity. They noted that this approach ultimately led to the division of the country into two parts. Despite this, the state has failed to alter its negative policies.
The leaders affirmed that Pakistan is a multi-ethnic state, where each ethnicity has its own historical territory, culture, customs, language, and national resources. They stressed that acknowledging this reality is essential for the country’s security and stability.
The event highlighted the undeniable importance of mother languages, with research and studies confirming that education in one’s mother tongue enhances a child’s ability and learning potential. A large number of National Party members, provincial leaders, district leaders, and women attended the event, showing their support for the cause.
