Islamabad:Former actress Noor Bukhari has responded to critics of her hijab style, stating that wearing a hijab is a personal choice and that she does not wear it for the sake of others, urging people to stop commenting on her decision.
Noor Bukhari, who left the entertainment industry to follow Islamic teachings, shared a picture on social media from a wedding event where she wore a hijab matching her outfit. However, the style of her hijab did not sit well with some social media users, who criticized her for wearing a turban-like style, comparing it to men’s headgear. Some even accused her of mocking religion, while others questioned whether the item she wore was truly a hijab.
In response to the backlash, Noor Bukhari disabled comments on her post and addressed the critics via an Instagram story. She firmly stated that whether she wears a hijab, turban, or dupatta, it is none of their business. Noor emphasized, “If you are going to give an account of my grave, then speak; otherwise, stay quiet.”
It is noteworthy that Noor Bukhari had announced her departure from showbiz in 2017 to lead a life in accordance with Islamic teachings. Her decision was widely praised by her fans, and since then, she has continued to share pictures of herself wearing the hijab.
Noor Bukhari, a former film star, is now married to Aon Chaudhry, a leader of the Pakistan Stability Party. She had previously been married four times. Noor’s first marriage was in 2008 to businessman Vikram, which ended in divorce after two years. Her second marriage to Farooq Mengal in 2010 lasted less than a year. Her third marriage to Aon Chaudhry in 2012 also ended within a few months, while her fourth marriage lasted less than two years and ended in September 2017. In a surprising turn, Noor Bukhari remarried Aon Chaudhry at the end of 2019.
