Young Doctors Association Announces Boycott of Polio Campaign in Balochistan
Quetta:The Young Doctors Association (YDA) of Balochistan has announced its full support for the Grand Health Alliance’s (GHA) call for a boycott of the ongoing polio vaccination campaign across the province. The association stated that it would ensure all its members participate in the boycott and take necessary actions to halt the campaign until the GHA’s demands are fully addressed.
In a statement issued by the spokesperson of YDA Balochistan, the association expressed its complete backing of the GHA’s decision to suspend the polio drive. The spokesperson further emphasized that all members of YDA are expected to implement the boycott in their respective districts and collaborate with other organizations in the Grand Health Alliance to formulate a unified strategy.
The YDA spokesperson also made it clear that the protests will continue across the province until the government takes concrete action to fulfill the demands raised by the GHA. Should the government fail to change its approach, the protests will intensify, and the YDA has warned that the government will bear full responsibility for the consequences.
This move comes amid ongoing tensions between health professionals and the provincial government, with concerns over the lack of attention to the demands of healthcare workers, including better working conditions and resources for the healthcare sector. The YDA’s call for a boycott reflects growing discontent within the medical community in Balochistan.
