Security Threats Endanger Pakistani Microsoft Users’ Accounts and Passwords

Islamabad: Microsoft users in Pakistan are facing significant security risks, as reports indicate that cyber threats could compromise login credentials and sensitive data. The National Cyber Emergency Response Team (N-CERT) has issued an advisory warning of potential cyberattacks targeting Microsoft Windows systems.
The advisory highlights that all versions of Windows, from Windows 7 to Windows 11, as well as Windows Server 2022, are vulnerable. Hackers could gain unauthorized access to networks and sensitive information without the need to open any specific files. The issue has not yet been addressed by Microsoft.
According to N-CERT, cybercriminals could potentially take full control of systems by exploiting login passwords and gaining access to networks. The threat could affect a wide range of Windows operating systems, leaving users exposed to data theft and malicious cyberattacks.
The advisory strongly recommends implementing double-layer security systems and fortifying networks. It also advises users to secure specific information using firewalls, virtual local area networks (VLANs), or network segmentation.
Furthermore, users are urged to avoid opening suspicious files, especially those received via USB drives, email attachments, or shared folders, to reduce the risk of falling victim to cyberattacks.
As of now, Microsoft has not provided a solution to this critical vulnerability, leaving many systems at risk.
