National Bank President Under Scrutiny for Unauthorized Foreign Trip, Ordered to Reimburse Expenses

Karachi: The Federal Ministry of Finance has taken notice of the unauthorized foreign trip taken by the President of the National Bank of Pakistan, Rahmat Ali Hassani, and has demanded an explanation as to why he traveled abroad without government approval.
In a formal notice sent to the NBP president, the Ministry stated that Rahmat Ali Hassani incurred expenses amounting to millions of rupees on a foreign visit without the Prime Minister’s consent. The Ministry has instructed him to reimburse the full amount spent on the unauthorized trip to the government treasury.
The notice further specified that Rahmat Ali Hassani must refrain from undertaking any future foreign trips without the necessary approval from the Prime Minister. The Ministry warned that any future violations of government directives would result in disciplinary action against the NBP president.
Sources have revealed that Rahmat Ali Hassani visited France at government expense, with an estimated cost of approximately 7.5 million rupees. The trip was made without prior approval, leading to the financial ministry’s intervention.
