Omar Ayub Warns of Global Civil Disobedience Movement if Demands Are Not Met

Peshawar:Opposition Leader in the National Assembly and senior Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader, Omar Ayub, has warned the government that if their demands are not addressed, the party will initiate a civil disobedience movement, which will not be limited to Pakistan but will extend globally. He urged the authorities not to force them into taking drastic steps.

In a press conference in Peshawar, alongside PTI leaders Shibli Faraz, Asad Qaiser, and Sheikh Waqas Akram, Omar Ayub revealed that 12 PTI workers had been confirmed as martyred during the protests in Islamabad. He further stated that over 5,000 PTI workers had been arrested, and more than 200 were still missing.

Omar Ayub also announced that PTI Chairman Imran Khan had formed a committee for negotiations, which would engage with any relevant parties to resolve the ongoing issues. He called for a judicial inquiry into the events of May 9, as well as into the incident on November 24, when PTI workers were shot at.

He demanded that the government release all arrested PTI workers and ensure accountability for the actions that led to their arrests.

“If the government fails to meet our demands, we will have no option but to start a civil disobedience movement,” Omar Ayub declared. “We will not rest until justice is served for our people.”

In the same press conference, Shibli Faraz criticized the government for allegedly “stealing” PTI’s mandate on February 8 and claimed that the authorities were compounding their mistakes in an attempt to cover up the initial wrongdoing.

The leaders emphasized that their struggle was not just for the release of their workers but also for the restoration of justice and democracy in the country. They warned the government that their peaceful approach was rapidly reaching its limits and that they would be forced to escalate their actions if their demands were not met.
