FBR Imposes Withholding Tax on Wedding Ceremonies
Karachi: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has announced the imposition of a 10% withholding tax on wedding events held at wedding halls. The tax will be collected directly from the party making the booking, rather than the wedding hall owners.
This decision was finalized following a meeting between FBR officials and a delegation from the Wedding Hall Association in Karachi. Raza Rais, the President of the Wedding Hall Association, confirmed that the tax will be charged on the booking party for holding the event at the venue.
He explained that the withholding tax, which is separate from the venue rental fee, will be deducted from the person or entity organizing the wedding, and the wedding hall owners will not be responsible for it. This move is in accordance with FBR’s latest directives aimed at streamlining tax collection for events held at wedding venues.
Raza Rais also urged the public to adhere to FBR’s policies regarding withholding tax on wedding events, ensuring compliance with the new tax rules.
