Shah Mehmood Qureshi Engages in Heated Argument with Police Inspector Over Change of Vehicle
Lahore: Former Federal Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi was involved in a heated argument with police officers over the change of a vehicle used to transport him from jail to court. The dispute occurred when Inspector Sheikh Hamad replaced the double-cabin vehicle that had brought Qureshi to court with a single-cabin vehicle for his return trip to jail.
Qureshi strongly objected to the change, insisting that he would not return to jail in a single-cabin vehicle. “Tell your officers to send back the same vehicle that brought me here,” Qureshi demanded. “Police today seem to have become loyal to someone else.”
Inspector Hamad explained that the double-cabin vehicle was needed to transport Dr. Yasmeen Rashid to jail. However, Qureshi remained firm, instructing the police officer to bring the same double-cabin vehicle. He also cited back pain as a reason for his refusal to travel in the smaller vehicle, adding that he was waiting in the courtroom for the correct vehicle to be arranged.
The argument between the police and the former minister continued for a considerable time in the court premises, highlighting a tense standoff over the vehicle change.
