PIMS Hospital Clarifies Reports of Deaths During PTI Protest in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD:The Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) hospital administration has issued a clarification regarding the claims of fatalities during the ongoing Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) protest in Islamabad. The hospital has refuted the rumors circulating on social media about the deaths of protesters, stating that there is no truth to these reports.

In its official statement, PIMS clarified that during the protest, a total of 66 law enforcement personnel and 36 civilians were brought to the emergency department. Most of the individuals received first aid treatment and were discharged shortly thereafter, with only a few remaining hospitalized for further care.

PIMS also mentioned that some patients are still under treatment, but there are no confirmed reports of deaths among those admitted.

In a separate development, Islamabad’s Polyclinic Hospital also released its own list of casualties. According to the data, two bodies and 26 injured individuals were brought to the hospital. The hospital did not provide details on the condition of the injured.

The clarification from both hospitals comes amid widespread speculation and panic on social media, following claims of multiple deaths during the protest. Authorities are urging the public to refrain from spreading unverified information and to rely on official sources for updates.
