Karachi’s Business Community Announces Launch of New Airline, “Air Karachi”
Karachi: The business community of Karachi has announced the launch of a new airline, “Air Karachi,” which is set to be introduced as a major new player in the aviation sector. The name “Air Karachi” has already been registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP).
Hanif Gohar, former Senior Vice President of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI), revealed in a media talk that a formal request for the airline’s operating license has been submitted to the federal government. The airline plans to acquire three aircraft on lease in its first phase of operations.
It was also announced that Air Karachi has appointed Air Vice Marshal Imran, a Southern Command commander, as its CEO. The key shareholders of the airline include prominent businessmen such as Aqeel Karim Dhedhi, Arif Habib, and S.M. Tanveer, along with Bashir Jan Muhammad, Khalid Tawab, Zubair Tufail, and Hamza Tabani.
The new airline is set to be launched with an initial investment of approximately 5 billion Pakistani rupees, with each shareholder contributing 50 million rupees. The approval for the airline’s license is expected to be granted in the coming days, and Air Karachi aims to begin operations shortly thereafter.
