Alleged Irregularities Worth Over Rs920 Million Uncovered in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Education Department

PESHAWAR: Alleged financial irregularities amounting to more than Rs920 million have been reported in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Education Department, raising concerns about the state of education and the future of millions of students across the province.
According to sources, the findings were highlighted in the Auditor General’s report for 2024-25, which reportedly identified financial irregularities in the provincial education department, despite the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government’s claims of eliminating corruption.
Alleged irregularities amounting to Rs374.3 million were identified in various matters, including teacher recruitment and the provision of tablets.
Meanwhile, government school buildings from Bannu to Haripur are reportedly in a dilapidated condition, with funds allocated for repairs and rehabilitation allegedly misappropriated.
In Dera Ismail Khan, Charsadda and Buner, several classrooms have reportedly become unusable, raising fears that the education of thousands of children could be affected.
The reported findings have raised questions about financial oversight and the use of public funds allocated to the education sector in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
