Balochistan CM Sarfraz Bugti Calls for Result-Oriented Reforms to Improve Provincial Departments

QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti has stressed the need to link administrative reforms with practical results to improve the performance of provincial departments and ensure the effective delivery of public services.

The second day of a review meeting, chaired by the chief minister to assess the performance of provincial departments and formulate reform proposals, continued with detailed briefings by Balochistan Chief Secretary Shakeel Qadir Khan on departmental performance, administrative affairs and institutional capacity.

The meeting also discussed various proposals aimed at improving the functioning of government departments and restructuring institutions to enhance their efficiency.

Addressing the meeting, Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti said reforms must translate into tangible improvements in the performance of government departments. He emphasised that the effectiveness of public institutions should be measured by their performance and the quality of services delivered to citizens.

He directed all departments to fulfil their responsibilities efficiently and link their performance with measurable outcomes to ensure meaningful improvements in governance.

The chief minister highlighted the importance of making effective use of public resources and strengthening institutional capacity, describing both as essential for better governance.

He said departmental restructuring and the reform process should be guided by practical requirements, administrative efficiency and the public interest to make the government machinery more effective and accountable.

Mir Sarfraz Bugti also stressed that clearly defining the responsibilities and scope of each department would help improve administrative functioning and eliminate overlapping duties.

He further directed officials to strengthen coordination among departments and remove unnecessary obstacles hindering the effective discharge of official responsibilities.

The chief minister said the primary objective of the reforms was to make government institutions more efficient, ensure the timely delivery of quality public services, and promote transparency and accountability in administrative affairs.

He underscored that the success of the reform process would ultimately be reflected in improved institutional performance and better services for the people of Balochistan.
