Up to 2,000 Political Workers Arrested Since Yesterday: Asad Qaiser

Islamabad (Daily Qudrat) — Former Speaker of the National Assembly Asad Qaiser has said that according to reports, up to 2,000 political workers have been arrested since yesterday. The question is: why does the government deliberately want to worsen the law and order situation? Sohail Afridi, Junaid Akbar, ministers, and all arrested assembly members should be released immediately.

In a statement on X, he said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has its own unique political and social culture, where despite severe political differences, mutual respect, tolerance, and traditions are upheld. He strongly condemned the use of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police for political revenge and suppression of opponents.

According to reports, up to 2,000 political workers have been arrested since yesterday.

The question is: why does the government deliberately want to worsen the law and order situation, and by fueling political tension in the province, where does it want to take the situation? The violation of the sanctity of homes and privacy, harassment of political workers, and the series of raids on assembly members’ houses should be stopped immediately.

Asad Qaiser said that instead of making state institutions a weapon of political pressure, they should be made bound to the Constitution, law, and fundamental rights of the people.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi, Speaker of the Provincial Assembly Babar Saleem Swati, Provincial President of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Junaid Akbar Khan, along with all arrested members of the National and Provincial Assemblies, ministers, and political workers should be released immediately.

I want to make it clear that political voices cannot be suppressed through state power, raids, and arrests. Political differences should be answered not through retaliatory actions but through political dialogue, constitutional supremacy, and the rule of law. The government should come to its senses and avoid such actions that cause further deterioration of law and order in the province.
