Barrister Gohar Urges Federal Government to Reverse KP Emergency Decision

ISLAMABAD:Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan has urged the federal government to reconsider its decision to impose an emergency in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, saying there is still time to reverse the move within a few days.

In a statement issued on October 11, 2026, Barrister Gohar strongly condemned the imposition of an emergency in the province and categorically rejected the decision.

He urged the federal government to set aside its ego and understand the ground realities, describing the move as a deeply concerning political mistake and an undemocratic step. He said the people would never accept measures that undermine their rights.

The PTI chairman maintained that the mandate of the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was their constitutional and legal right. He argued that peace could not be established by disregarding the public mandate or weakening provincial autonomy.

Barrister Gohar said stability could not be achieved by creating confrontation between the federal government and the provincial administration. He stressed that there was no disagreement over the need to eliminate terrorism, adding that the challenge could only be addressed through national unity and a coordinated strategy.

He further stated that weakening the provinces would not strengthen the federation. According to him, the solution to the country’s challenges did not lie in the use of force, confrontation or extraordinary measures, but in political wisdom and meaningful dialogue.

He called on the federal government to review its decision and pursue negotiations to resolve differences and maintain political stability.
