Sohail Afridi Rejects ‘Anti-Pashtun, Anti-Province’ Policies, Says Threats Will Not Deter Him

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has strongly rejected threats from the federal government regarding the imposition of governor’s rule or an emergency in the province, saying he would not be intimidated by such threats.

Criticising the government’s current policies, Afridi said the failed approach had not reduced terrorism but instead caused it to increase.

“Even if they take my life, I will not accept their policy on terrorism,” the KP chief minister said.

He termed the federal government’s policy toward terrorism “anti-Pashtun, anti-province and anti-Pakistan,” alleging that the game of earning dollars at the expense of Pashtuns would no longer be allowed to continue.

Reacting to reports and statements about imposing governor’s rule or an emergency in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Afridi challenged the federal government to take the step if it wished.

“Impose governor’s rule today if you want. It makes no difference to me. I am not afraid of their threats. Let them do whatever they want,” he said.

The chief minister further asserted that his government would not back down from its political course, saying the PTI long march would move beyond Swabi and that its final outcome would become clear to everyone.

“Our destination in the long march is beyond Swabi, and its final result will be before everyone,” Afridi said.
