Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi Ends 35-Day Sit-In Against Petroleum Levy

KARACHI: Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi has ended its 35-day sit-in outside the Governor House against the petroleum levy.

Addressing the protesters in Karachi, Jamaat-e-Islami Emir Hafiz Naeemur Rehman said that a long march to Islamabad would begin by train today. He said caravans from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan and Sindh would join the march.

Hafiz Naeem alleged that sugar, flour, independent power producer (IPP) and banking mafias had joined hands to exploit the public.

Jamaat-e-Islami Deputy Emir Liaquat Baloch said that a “super long march” would begin from Karachi today under the leadership of Hafiz Naeemur Rehman.

He made these remarks while speaking to the media after the conclusion of the fifth round of talks between the Jamaat-e-Islami delegation and the government team.
