ANF Busts Two Illegal Drug Tablet Manufacturing Networks in Peshawar

PESHAWAR: The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) has busted two networks allegedly involved in the illegal manufacturing of substandard narcotic tablets during raids on residential properties in Hassan Garhi and Malakandher areas of Peshawar.

According to an ANF spokesperson, acting on intelligence-based information, the force raided a residential house in Hassan Garhi where illegal narcotic tablets, known as K-Tablets, were allegedly being manufactured.

During the operation, machinery used for drug production, 25.910 kilograms of various chemicals, 4,500 finished narcotic tablets and three vehicles allegedly used for transporting drugs were seized.

Four suspects were arrested during the raid, including a pharmacist who was allegedly supervising the illegal setup. During interrogation, the suspects reportedly disclosed that the facility was producing approximately 90,000 to 100,000 tablets every month.

In a separate operation on Nasir Bagh Road in Malakandher, ANF personnel raided a residential property following information provided by another suspect arrested in Peshawar. The raid led to the discovery of another illegal manufacturing unit, while one more suspect was arrested from the site.

The ANF said 4.500 kilograms of finished and partially manufactured ecstasy tablets, raw materials and a tablet-making machine were recovered from the premises.

According to the ANF spokesperson, the seized setups were rudimentary, locally established and substandard units that did not meet the standards of a formal pharmaceutical manufacturing facility. The spokesperson warned that drugs manufactured under such unsafe conditions could pose serious risks to human life.

The ANF said the narcotic tablets were allegedly being produced with young people as a target market. It added that the force was utilizing all available resources to protect the younger generation from drug abuse.

The spokesperson emphasized that combating narcotics was not the responsibility of a single institution but a collective national responsibility.

The Anti-Narcotics Force reiterated its commitment to combating drug trafficking and manufacturing and working towards a drug-free society.
