KP CM Accuses Federal Government of ‘Fraud’ Over Imran Khan’s Hospital Transfer
ISLAMABAD: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi has alleged that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan was taken to a hospital late at night through a “fake” procedure, claiming that the federal government had violated the Supreme Court’s orders regarding his medical treatment.
Addressing the 57th meeting of the provincial cabinet, CM Afridi said the Supreme Court had ordered that Imran Khan be treated at Shifa International Hospital in the presence of his sister and personal doctors. He alleged that the federal government had “committed fraud” in implementing the court’s directive by bringing the former prime minister to the hospital under the cover of darkness.
The chief minister expressed serious concern over Imran Khan’s health and demanded that all court orders concerning him be implemented in letter and spirit.
Afridi alleged that Imran Khan’s health had deteriorated while in federal custody, claiming that he had been kept in solitary confinement for eight to nine months. He said such treatment had never been witnessed in Pakistan’s history and argued that the former prime minister’s health problems were a consequence of his prolonged confinement.
He said ignoring judicial orders amounted to disrespecting the judiciary and judges, adding that the entire nation was looking toward the courts for justice.
During the cabinet meeting, the chief minister also announced that the KP government would soon launch an EV bikes scheme for women. College and university students as well as working women would be provided electric bikes strictly on merit. He said the first phase of the scheme would be launched soon.
Afridi further announced plans for an EV rickshaw scheme, describing electric rickshaws as an important step toward a clean and green environment. He also directed officials to accelerate work on an electric bus scheme for divisional headquarters.
The chief minister instructed departments to speed up work on all public-interest schemes included in the Annual Development Programme (ADP), saying bureaucratic hurdles and political negligence should not stand in the way of development.
He praised the Planning and Development Department for its performance and directed officials to further accelerate development projects.
Afridi said the current financial year would be a year of peace, development and prosperity for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
