BISP Issues Important Guidelines for Registered Women Over Benazir SIMs and Digital Wallets

ISLAMABAD: The Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) has issued important guidelines for registered women regarding Benazir SIMs and digital wallets, advising beneficiaries to remain cautious of unverified information and unauthorized sources.

In an awareness message, BISP clarified that eligible women should obtain Benazir SIMs only from designated and authorized BISP offices. Beneficiaries have been advised not to receive SIMs from unrelated individuals or unauthorized centres.

The programme also warned beneficiaries against believing rumours and misleading information circulating on social media. Any information regarding the issuance of SIMs and digital wallets should be verified through official BISP sources.

BISP said beneficiaries requiring clarification or guidance should contact their nearest BISP office. The initiative aims to provide beneficiaries with secure and transparent access to the facilities.

Digital Wallet Programme

Meanwhile, the government is working to expand the digital payment system for BISP beneficiaries. According to Minister of State for Finance Bilal Azhar Kayani, the government has set a target to provide digital wallets to all BISP beneficiaries by the end of 2026.

He said the government was working with the public and private sectors to promote digital payments across the country, while the Raast system was also being strengthened to improve the digital payment infrastructure.

According to the government, millions of traders are currently using digital payment facilities, while the number of digital banking users has also reached a significant level. Various initiatives are also being taken to encourage payments through QR codes.

BISP said the guidelines were aimed at protecting beneficiaries from fraud, misinformation and unauthorized sources. Registered women have been advised to verify any new facility or SIM-related information with the relevant government institution before proceeding.
