JAKARTA:The death toll from various incidents following a 7.7-magnitude earthquake in Indonesia has risen to **40**, while at least **50 people have been injured**, according to a news agency report.
The earthquake caused several buildings to collapse and left more than **2,000 people homeless**. More than **50 houses were destroyed**, while several others sustained minor damage.
Rescue teams and authorities are continuing relief and rescue operations in the affected areas. Officials have warned that the death toll could rise further as search and rescue efforts continue.
The **7.7-magnitude earthquake** struck near Indonesia’s Flores Island on Saturday morning. A tsunami warning issued following the earthquake was later withdrawn.
