Military Leadership Meets Families of Martyrs and Veterans on Independence Day

ISLAMABAD: On the occasion of Pakistan’s Independence Day, the country’s military leadership, along with President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, held a special meeting with the families of martyrs and veterans.

During a ceremony at Yadgar-e-Fatah, the president, prime minister and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir met families of martyrs and veterans and paid tribute to their sacrifices, courage and steadfastness.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the Pakistan Armed Forces conveyed Independence Day greetings and best wishes to the nation. The ceremony highlighted national unity, love for the country and the sacrifices of those who laid down their lives in defence of Pakistan.

Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir described the martyrs as the “pride of the nation,” saying their sacrifices were a source of honour for the country and its people. He also paid tribute to the courage and sacrifices of the families of the fallen.

President Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir met the families of martyrs and veterans individually, spoke with them and listened to their experiences and sentiments.

The military leadership assured the families of the martyrs that the nation would always remember and honour their sacrifices.

Field Marshal Asim Munir also held a special meeting with the families of the martyrs of the “Battle of Truth” and expressed his affection and respect for them. Members of the martyrs’ families also shared their sentiments during the gathering.

The ceremony paid tribute to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives in defence of the country and veterans who rendered services for Pakistan’s national security.

According to ISPR, the Pakistan Armed Forces also expressed their best wishes for peace, prosperity and development for the nation on Independence Day.
