Pakistan Is the Fruit of Great Sacrifices and Historic Struggle, Says Haji Wali Noorzai

QUETTA: Parliamentary Secretary for Social Welfare Haji Wali Noorzai has said that Pakistan is the result of immense sacrifices, a prolonged struggle, unwavering determination and countless sacrifices, adding that Independence Day is an opportunity to remember the sacrifices of the nation’s forefathers and renew the commitment to the country’s progress and prosperity.

In his message on Pakistan’s Independence Day, Noorzai congratulated the nation and said August 14 was a historic and significant day for every Pakistani. He said the Muslims of the subcontinent achieved an independent homeland after a long and difficult struggle, with millions making sacrifices, enduring migration and facing countless hardships.

He said every citizen had a responsibility to understand the value of freedom and fulfill the obligations that come with it. Independence Day should not only be celebrated, he added, but should also be used to reflect on how every individual can contribute to the country’s development.

Noorzai stressed that national unity, mutual respect and collective thinking were essential to addressing Pakistan’s challenges. The development of the country, he said, was not solely the responsibility of the government or any single institution; every member of society must perform their duties with honesty and sincerity.

He said unity, faith, discipline and national solidarity were fundamental principles through which Pakistan could be transformed into a stronger, stable and prosperous country.

The parliamentary secretary acknowledged that Pakistan currently faces economic, social and other challenges but said no obstacle could permanently hinder national progress if the people remained united and confronted difficulties collectively.

He urged citizens to put aside their differences and prioritize the national interest to move Pakistan further along the path of development and prosperity.

Noorzai said millions of people had left their homes during the creation of Pakistan, while countless families endured the hardships of migration and many people sacrificed their lives. Forgetting these sacrifices, he said, would be an injustice to the nation’s history.

He emphasized the importance of educating the younger generation about Pakistan’s history, the independence movement and the sacrifices made for the establishment of the country. He said young people were the future of Pakistan and should be equipped with education, skills, research capabilities, positive thinking and a spirit of national service.

He said Pakistan’s progress required political and social stability as well as economic strength. Collective efforts were needed to strengthen the economy, create employment opportunities, improve education and healthcare, and provide basic facilities to citizens.

Noorzai said national unity was essential for achieving development goals. Pakistan was a beautiful combination of different cultures, languages, regions and traditions, and this diversity was a source of strength. He stressed the importance of taking all communities and sections of society along and ensuring the basic rights, dignity and respect of every citizen.

The Parliamentary Secretary for Social Welfare said establishing a welfare state required supporting vulnerable and disadvantaged segments of society and providing them with basic facilities. Government and society must work together to improve the lives of the poor, orphans, persons with disabilities, elderly people and other deserving citizens and enable them to become active members of society.

He also stressed the need for equal development across all regions of Pakistan, including Balochistan. He said the people of Balochistan had played an important role in the country’s development and defence since independence and called for practical measures to improve education, healthcare, employment, infrastructure and other basic facilities in the province.

Noorzai said the true message of Independence Day was to fulfill one’s responsibilities toward building a strong, peaceful, prosperous and developed Pakistan. The national flag, he added, was not merely a symbol but represented the nation’s unity, freedom and identity.

He also paid tribute to the martyrs and all those who had sacrificed their lives for Pakistan’s defence, peace and stability, saying their sacrifices had enabled the nation to live in a free country.

He called for special prayers for Pakistan’s security, development and prosperity and urged every citizen to contribute according to their abilities toward national progress.

Noorzai said Pakistan’s 79th Independence Day carried the message that nations do not achieve prosperity merely by gaining independence; they secure their future through protecting freedom, strengthening institutions, upholding the rule of law, promoting education, achieving economic development and maintaining national unity.

He concluded by congratulating the nation on the 79th Independence Day and praying that Allah Almighty grant Pakistan peace, stability, development and prosperity, protect it from internal and external threats, and enable the Pakistani nation to serve the country with unity and solidarity.
