PM Shehbaz Meets Belarusian Energy Minister, Agrees to Strengthen Bilateral Cooperation
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif met Belarusian Energy Minister Dzianis Maroz at the Prime Minister House, where the two sides discussed measures to further strengthen cooperation between Pakistan and Belarus in various sectors.
Welcoming the Belarusian minister and his delegation, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif conveyed his best wishes to Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko. He also recalled with pleasure President Lukashenko’s visit to Islamabad in November 2024 and his own visit to Belarus in April 2025.

During the meeting, both sides expressed satisfaction over the progress made during the ninth session of the Pakistan-Belarus Joint Ministerial Commission (JMC). The meeting reviewed cooperation in trade, industry, agriculture, banking, manpower, transport and energy.
The prime minister expressed hope that the decisions taken during the JMC session would produce tangible benefits for both countries and further consolidate the growing partnership between Pakistan and Belarus.
The Belarusian energy minister thanked the prime minister for the warm welcome and conveyed greetings from the Belarusian leadership. He also briefed the prime minister on the key progress achieved during the JMC meeting.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to accelerating the implementation of decisions and agreements reached by the leadership of the two countries and agreed to further expand bilateral contacts and cooperation.
Earlier, the ninth session of the Pakistan-Belarus Joint Ministerial Commission was held in Islamabad, where the two countries agreed to expand bilateral cooperation and take practical measures in several areas.
The meeting was co-chaired by Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan and the Belarusian Energy Minister. At the conclusion of the session, a protocol on bilateral cooperation and a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in the media sector were signed.
According to the Ministry of Economic Affairs, the two sides agreed to establish a Joint Working Group to address trade-related issues. They also decided to form a feasibility study group for a trade agreement in the services sector.
The meeting also reviewed progress towards a potential free trade arrangement between Pakistan and the Eurasian Economic Union. Both countries expressed their commitment to strengthening industrial cooperation, technology transfer and partnerships between small and medium-sized enterprises.
Pakistan also offered to facilitate the deployment of Pakistani manpower to Belarus through an organized mechanism. The two sides agreed to hold online business-to-business (B2B) sessions to promote trade in food products, fruits and dairy items.
According to the Ministry of Economic Affairs, cooperation in science and technology and waste management would also be expanded.
During the session, Pakistan Television (PTV) and Belarusian state media also signed a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at strengthening links and cooperation between media organizations of the two countries.
