Gadar Incident in Sorab a Serious Example of Excessive Use of State Power: PkMAP
QUETTA: The Pashtunkhwa National Awami Party (PkNAP) has strongly condemned the reported aerial attack on a civilian population in Gadar area of Sorab district, expressing deep grief and concern over the reported deaths of 27 people, including women and children, and injuries to several others.
In a press release issued by the party’s provincial secretariat, PkNAP described the reported airstrike on the civilian population of Gadar and the loss of innocent lives as an extremely serious and condemnable act.
The party said targeting civilians, including women and children, was unacceptable under any circumstances. It stressed that the fundamental responsibility of state institutions was to protect the lives and property of citizens rather than subjecting civilian populations to fear, terror and insecurity.
The PkNAP said the incident in Gadar represented a serious example of the excessive use of state power. It maintained that bombing civilian areas and the resulting loss of innocent lives constituted a grave violation of fundamental human rights and civil liberties.
The party warned that such incidents not only created fear and panic among the population but also severely damaged trust between the state and its citizens.
The PkNAP demanded an immediate, transparent and impartial investigation into the reported aerial attack on the civilian population in Gadar. It called for those responsible to be identified and dealt with in accordance with the law.
The party also demanded immediate and dignified compensation for the families of those killed, the provision of the best possible medical treatment to the injured and comprehensive assistance and rehabilitation for affected families.
The press release said residents of Sorab district were already facing severe difficulties due to curfew and heightened security measures. The party urged the government to ensure protection of citizens’ fundamental rights during curfew and security operations, remove obstacles to relief activities and provide relief organizations with full access to affected areas.
The PkNAP made it clear that the killing of innocent civilians was unacceptable under any circumstances. It said state power should be used to protect the people, not to target them.
The party urged the government to immediately halt attacks on civilian populations, guarantee the protection of people’s lives and property, and ensure respect for human life.
The PkNAP reiterated its opposition to all forms of terrorism, violence and attacks targeting civilian populations, and called for the people of Balochistan to be provided with peace, security, justice and fundamental human rights instead of fear and insecurity.
