Quetta Parks Overrun by Rowdy Youth, Families Demand Security and Active CCTV Cameras

QUETTA: The presence of unruly and rowdy young men inside and around several parks in Quetta has become a growing source of concern for citizens, particularly families visiting the recreational spaces.

Residents say incidents of harassment involving women and girls are increasing, while the apparent silence of the relevant authorities has raised questions about security arrangements at the parks.

According to citizens, groups of young men gather in parks during the evening and engage in inappropriate behaviour and harassment, discouraging respectable families from visiting these public recreational areas.

Some families said that when they arrive at parks for recreation, groups of young men begin staring at them and making inappropriate remarks even at the entrances, making women feel unsafe and uncomfortable.

Citizens have called on the relevant authorities to deploy security personnel at parks, ensure that CCTV camera systems are fully operational and take immediate action against individuals involved in harassment and other inappropriate behaviour.

They said effective security measures were necessary to restore a safe and family-friendly environment in Quetta’s parks so that citizens, particularly women and children, could use public recreational facilities without fear.
