Many Cases Are Filed Without Knowing How or Why They Were Made, Says Noreen Niazi

PESHAWAR: Noreen Niazi, sister of PTI founder Imran Khan, has claimed that several cases are being registered without people even knowing how or why they were filed against them.

The remarks came during a hearing at the Peshawar High Court on her petitions seeking protective and transit bail. Justice Arshad Ali heard the case.

According to the applicant’s lawyer, the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) had registered a case against Noreen Niazi in Islamabad.

Speaking to the court, Noreen Niazi said she learned only after arriving in Peshawar that a cybercrime case had been registered against her. She maintained that she had never spoken against the state in the media and would not do so in the future.

“I was not even in the province, so how could I have interfered here?” she questioned.

Niazi said she had never spoken against the state and that everyone was entitled to their own opinions. She alleged that a case had been registered against her after private conversations took place at her home and those conversations were made public.

She further claimed that several cases were being registered without any clear explanation of how or why they had been initiated. She said cases had also been filed against her sisters and that she herself was now facing a case.

“I do not know what political interference means,” she added.

Later, the Peshawar High Court granted transit bail to Noreen Niazi.
