Acid Used to Burn Victim’s Body in Mir Raza Case, Investigation Reveals

KARACHI:Investigators probing the Mir Raza case have discovered that acid was allegedly used on the victim’s body in an attempt to conceal his identity.

According to details emerging during the investigation, forensic examination of the shirt sent to the laboratory found evidence that acid had been thrown on Raza’s hands and face. Investigators believe the substance was used to destroy identifying features so that the victim could not be recognized.

Meanwhile, the first meeting of a newly formed investigation committee into the Mir Raza case will be held today. The five-member committee will investigate his death from all possible angles, including the possibility of murder.

DIG Amir Farooqi will head the committee, while SSP Ali Raza will serve as its secretary.

An initial medical report issued after Mir Raza’s exhumation on Saturday stated that he had sustained a gunshot wound from the back. Signs of physical assault were also found on his body.

The report further revealed evidence of fractures to the right thigh and jaw, while blood stains were found on tissues in the lower part of the body.
