Goods Transporters Oppose Daily Fuel Price Changes, Back Nationwide Wheel-Jam Strike
Islamabad: The All Pakistan Goods Transporters Association has said that transport operators cannot continue running trucks amid daily fluctuations in petroleum prices, urging the government to address the industry’s growing concerns.
Speaking at a press conference alongside association officials, Association President Nabeel Mahmood Tariq called for an end to what he described as unnecessary customs inspections and demanded the withdrawal of recent increases in toll taxes.
He also urged the government to establish new truck terminals across Punjab and reverse the 300 percent increase in token tax imposed on transport vehicles.
Nabeel Mahmood Tariq further announced the association’s support for the nationwide wheel-jam strike scheduled for August 8, saying transporters would back the protest until their demands are addressed.
