Quetta:Nusrullah Zehri, the provincial president of the Pashtunkhwa National Awami Party, has accused the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Quetta of issuing serious threats against him. Speaking to the media during a hearing of the missing Mansoor case at the Balochistan High Court, Zehri stated that if anything were to happen to him, the responsibility would lie with the DC of Quetta.

Zehri, who has been leading peaceful protests, emphasized the importance of their right to protest. He pointed out the unresolved killing of Ismail Khan Kakar, a member of the same family, in 2020, whose killers remain unidentified. He also mentioned the recent abduction of an 18-year-old boy from the same family, noting that despite the passing of five days, there has been no progress in recovering the child.

During his address, Zehri revealed that the Quetta DC had sent him a WhatsApp voice message, in which the DC allegedly referenced a statement by Khushal Khan Kakar, stating that the Deputy Commissioner of Duki could be suspended for causing unrest. Zehri questioned why the same fate had not befall the DC of Quetta following the recent suicide bombing at the Quetta railway station, which resulted in several casualties.

Zehri further stated, “The administration’s job is to recover the kidnapped child, and yet, the DC of Quetta, from Lahore, has sent me serious threats through voice messages.” He made it clear that he had shared these threats with the public and had informed both the Chief Minister of Balochistan, Sardar Sanaullah Zehri, and the Chief Secretary about the issue. “The DC is the custodian of Quetta district, yet he has been missing from the city for four to five days while sending threats from Lahore,” Zehri added.

The allegations have sparked concerns over the safety of political leaders and activists in the region, with many calling for a thorough investigation into the matter.
