BlueSky Gains Popularity Amid Growing Discontent with X (Formerly Twitter)
Islamabad:The popularity of BlueSky, a platform similar to microblogging giant X (formerly Twitter), is rapidly increasing as users are migrating to it in protest. Many claim that BlueSky works without the need for a VPN, unlike X, which has been facing significant restrictions.
However, most users are now complaining that BlueSky is also no longer accessible without a VPN. A user named Ahsen Chaudhry posted, “Congratulations, Pakistanis! BlueSky has now been conquered in our homeland as well, as it’s not flying without a VPN.”
Rashid Javed wrote that he failed to access BlueSky without a VPN and added that supporters of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) had downloaded the app, but the government had blocked access to it. He further criticized, “You are not fit to remain in power.”
A user named Media stated that the firewall had also blocked BlueSky, and now it, too, requires a VPN to function.
Adnan Qaiser commented that BlueSky isn’t working without a VPN, adding, “It seems someone from X (formerly Twitter) has cast an evil eye on it.”
Sadia Asghar remarked, “If we need to use a VPN anyway, then Twitter (X) is better.”
It is important to note that BlueSky is very similar to X, with most of the same features. The key difference between BlueSky and other social networks is that it is decentralized. This means that users can store their data on servers other than those owned by BlueSky.
