Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Approves Military Operation Against Terrorist Organizations in Balochistan
Islamabad:Under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the Apex Committee of the National Action Plan (NAP) has approved a military operation against terrorist organizations active in Balochistan. The meeting was attended by federal ministers, provincial chief ministers, Army Chief General Asim Munir, and other senior officials. The agenda of the meeting was to reactivate Pakistan’s counter-terrorism efforts.
According to the statement released after the meeting, participants approved a comprehensive military operation against active terrorist organizations in Balochistan, including the Mujahid Brigade, BLA (Baloch Liberation Army), BLF (Baloch Liberation Front), and BRA (Baloch Republican Army). These groups, allegedly operating at the behest of foreign forces, have been targeting innocent civilians and foreign nationals to create insecurity and halt Pakistan’s economic progress.
The statement further mentioned that the meeting provided a briefing on security challenges, terrorism, and other important issues, including efforts to combat religious extremism. Participants were also briefed on actions against illegal spectrum use, criminal syndicates, terrorism networks, sabotage activities, and misinformation campaigns.
The meeting agreed on reactivating NACTA (National Counter Terrorism Authority), setting up national and provincial intelligence fusion centers, and establishing threat assessment hubs. Additionally, a decision was made to form district coordination committees under the supervision of provincial apex committees.
During the meeting, Army Chief General Asim Munir reaffirmed the Pakistan Army’s unwavering commitment to supporting government measures aimed at eliminating all national security threats and ensuring peace and stability.
In conclusion, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif directed all stakeholders to actively implement the agreed measures and ensure their timely execution. He emphasized the importance of sustainable and coordinated efforts to safeguard Pakistan’s sovereignty, protect its citizens, and strengthen its economic and social stability.
