Sharmila Faruqui: PPP Believes in the Power of the Vote, PML-N Believes in Something Else

Karachi: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Sharmila Faruqui has said that the PPP believes in the power of the vote, while the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) believes in “something else.”

Speaking on Geo News’ program Geo Pakistan, Faruqui alleged that an atmosphere of fear and intimidation was created during the Azad Jammu and Kashmir elections to give the impression that a public mandate had been secured.

She claimed that the announcement of Green Bus services and other development projects before polling day amounted to pre-election rigging. According to her, even if a government is formed on the basis of such a mandate, it will not be able to effectively serve the people.

Faruqui also alleged that a PPP worker was killed, but authorities later claimed that the death was caused by a push or a heart attack. She questioned why polling staff arrived late in constituencies where the PPP traditionally enjoys strong voter support.

She further stated that the Azad Kashmir elections have no connection with Lahore or Karachi, emphasizing that the region has its own unique issues. Faruqui maintained that the people of Azad Kashmir have a special bond with the PPP that no other political party shares.
