PML-N Secures Majority in Second Phase of AJK Assembly Elections

Muzaffarabad:** Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) emerged as the dominant party in the second phase of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Legislative Assembly elections, winning 14 of the 19 seats declared through unofficial and provisional results, while the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) secured five seats.

Polling was held on Sunday in eight constituencies of the Muzaffarabad Division and 12 refugee seats. Voting continued until 6:00 p.m. in all scheduled constituencies except **LA-27**, where polling was postponed after severe weather and landslides prevented election staff and polling materials from reaching the area. Elections at all 196 polling stations in the constituency were deferred.

According to unofficial and incomplete results, PML-N maintained a clear lead by winning 14 constituencies, while PPP claimed victory in five. One constituency remains pending due to the postponed polling.

Among the key results, **Shah Ghulam Qadir** of PML-N won **LA-25 (Neelum Valley-I)** with 18,925 votes. In **LA-26 (Neelum Valley-II)**, PPP candidate **Mian Abdul Waheed** secured victory with 17,466 votes. PPP also won **LA-29 (Muzaffarabad-III)** through **Sardar Mukhtar Khan**, while PML-N candidates captured **LA-30**, **LA-31**, and **LA-32**.

PPP’s **Diwan Ali Khan Qamar Chughtai** was successful in **LA-33 (Muzaffarabad-VII)**, whereas PML-N swept most of the refugee constituencies, including **Jammu-I** through **Jammu-VI**, as well as several **Kashmir Valley** seats.

PPP registered additional victories in **Kashmir Valley-I (LA-40)** and **Kashmir Valley-VI (LA-45)**.

The results remain unofficial and provisional until formally announced by the Election Commission.
