Iran Denies Reports of Agreement to Reopen Strait of Hormuz
Tehran: Iran has rejected reports claiming that it has agreed to a plan to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, dismissing the claims as baseless.
According to Iran’s Fars News Agency, official sources said there has been no change in Tehran’s current policy regarding the strategically important waterway. They described reports suggesting that Iran had agreed to reopen the strait as false and inaccurate.
The report said that some foreign and Iran-opposed media outlets had claimed Tehran had reached an agreement on a plan concerning the Strait of Hormuz. However, Iranian sources denied the reports, insisting they do not reflect the country’s official position.
The sources emphasized that Iran’s stance on the Strait of Hormuz remains unchanged and that no new decision or policy shift has been made regarding the key maritime route.
Iranian officials also said the reports appear to be an attempt to create a misleading impression about the country’s policy.
The clarification comes at a time when the Strait of Hormuz remains under close international scrutiny due to its strategic importance as one of the world’s busiest shipping routes for global oil and natural gas exports.
