Pakistan Army Major Martyred, 12 Militants Killed in Intelligence-Based Operations in North Waziristan and Noshki
Rawalpindi: Pakistan’s security forces killed 12 militants in separate intelligence-based operations (IBOs) conducted in North Waziristan and Noshki, Balochistan, while a Pakistan Army major was martyred during an exchange of fire, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
In a statement, the military’s media wing said security forces carried out an intelligence-based operation in the Razmak area of North Waziristan after receiving information about the presence of militants it described as belonging to Fitna al-Khawarij.
During the operation, Major Hafiz Ehsan Elahi, 34, a resident of Mianwali, embraced martyrdom while leading his troops from the front during an intense firefight.
The ISPR described the fallen officer as a courageous commander who displayed exceptional bravery while leading the operation.
According to the statement, weapons and ammunition were recovered from the militants killed in the operation. The military said the militants had been involved in multiple terrorist attacks against security forces, law enforcement agencies, and innocent civilians.
The ISPR added that a clearance operation is continuing in the area to eliminate any remaining militants.
Seven Militants Killed in Noshki Operation
In a separate statement, the ISPR said security forces conducted another intelligence-based operation in Noshki district, Balochistan, during the night of July 30 and 31, after receiving intelligence regarding the presence of militants described by the military as Fitna al-Hindustan.
The military said seven militants, including a suicide bomber, were killed during the operation.
According to the ISPR, security forces swiftly engaged the militants after identifying their hideout, successfully eliminating all seven suspects. A large cache of weapons, ammunition, and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) was also destroyed during the operation.
Search and clearance operations are continuing to locate any remaining militants in the area.
The ISPR reaffirmed that security forces and law enforcement agencies will continue counterterrorism operations under the National Action Plan (NAP) until militancy and what it described as foreign-sponsored terrorism are completely eradicated from the country.
