Major Fake Arms Licence Scam Uncovered in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

Peshawar: A major fake arms licence scam has been uncovered in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where criminals, allegedly in collusion with government employees, were producing and selling counterfeit firearm licences at high prices.

According to police, the suspects were issuing fake government arms licences from a private location, charging between Rs80,000 and Rs250,000 for each licence with the alleged assistance of public officials.

A case has been registered, and two suspects have been arrested as investigations continue. Authorities have also revealed the alleged involvement of an official from the Home Department’s Licence Branch in the forgery network.

During the operation, police recovered a laptop, printer, ink bottles, around 700 licence cards, and other equipment believed to have been used in the production of counterfeit licences.

Police have sent a formal letter to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Home Department seeking further cooperation in the investigation.

According to sources in the Home Department, an inquiry committee will be constituted to investigate the incident. Meanwhile, Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Dr. Mian Saeed said that strict action would be taken against everyone found involved after the investigation is completed.

He emphasized that the inquiry is ongoing and that no official found complicit in the scam will be spared.
