U.S. Launches Airstrikes Against Iran Following Attacks on American Bases in Middle East

Washington:The United States has announced the launch of airstrikes against Iran in response to recent attacks on U.S. military installations in the Middle East, according to the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM).
In a statement posted on social media, CENTCOM said U.S. forces had initiated a retaliatory operation against Iran, describing the action as a response to ongoing threats to American troops and recent attacks targeting U.S. personnel in the region.
U.S. officials have not immediately disclosed the full scope of the operation or identified the specific targets struck.
A reporter from a U.S. media outlet, citing a senior American official, claimed that U.S. forces were carrying out strikes against targets inside Iran.
According to Iranian media, a security official in Iran’s Khuzestan Province said several locations in the city of Abadan were targeted in the U.S. strikes. However, the province’s deputy governor for security and law enforcement did not provide further details regarding the locations or any possible casualties.
Another Iranian news agency reported that multiple explosions were heard across parts of southern Iran, although there was no immediate information on the cause of the blasts or the extent of any damage.
The strikes come after U.S. President Donald Trump warned of a strong response following Iranian missile attacks targeting a U.S. military base in Jordan. Trump said the missiles launched toward the base had been successfully intercepted by U.S. air defense systems and vowed that Iran’s actions would receive a decisive response.
