11 Lahore Police Officers Suspended After Mistaken Raid on Attorney General’s Residence

Lahore: Eleven police officers, including the Station House Officer (SHO) of Sarwar Road Police Station, have been suspended and a criminal case has been registered after a police team mistakenly raided the residence of Pakistan’s Attorney General, Mansoor Awan, based on incorrect information.

According to local media reports, the raid took place while only household staff were present at the residence. Attorney General’s driver, Irfan, alleged that police officers damaged flower pots outside the house during the operation and took away the property’s CCTV recording system when they left.

The incident was immediately reported to Attorney General Mansoor Awan. By the time he returned home after an official meeting, the police had reportedly deleted the CCTV footage and returned the DVR.

Police officials said the raid occurred at around 6:00 p.m. on July 27, when a police team led by the SHO of Sarwar Road Police Station entered the property after climbing over the gate. The officials allegedly harassed the household staff during the operation.

According to the police, intelligence had indicated that suspected criminals were present in the neighboring house, but the team mistakenly raided the Attorney General’s residence instead.

Following the incident, authorities suspended the SHO and 10 other officers and registered an FIR against them on charges of exceeding their legal authority. Meanwhile, the SHO of Sarwar Road Police Station has obtained interim bail from a local court.
