Balochistan’s First Female Mountaineer Malaika Khalji Receives Warm Welcome in Quetta
QUETTA: Balochistan’s first female mountaineer, Malaika Khalji, arrived in Quetta after successfully summiting a 6,000-meter peak in Skardu, where she was warmly welcomed by her relatives, friends, and well-wishers at Quetta International Airport.
Speaking to the media upon her arrival, Khalji described becoming the province’s first female mountaineer as a great honor and dedicated her achievement to the women and youth of Balochistan.
She said climbing the 6,000-meter peak was a challenging experience, as she faced harsh weather conditions, difficult terrain, and numerous obstacles throughout the expedition. Despite these challenges, she remained determined and successfully completed the climb.
Khalji also spoke about the hardships she encountered in pursuing her passion for hiking and mountaineering, emphasizing that perseverance and commitment enabled her to achieve her goal.
She urged the government to pay greater attention to promoting mountaineering, hiking, and adventure sports in Balochistan, saying that better support and facilities would encourage more young people, especially women, to participate in the field.
She expressed confidence that with proper encouragement and investment, the youth of Balochistan could achieve significant success in mountaineering and other adventure sports at both national and international levels.
