Rana Sanaullah Calls for Suspension of AJK Polls After Alleged Recovery of Polling Bags

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister’s Adviser on Political Affairs Rana Sanaullah Khan has demanded an immediate investigation and the suspension of elections in Azad Jammu and Kashmir’s LA-10 Kotli constituency following claims that polling bags, along with presiding officers and a patwari, were found at the residence of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) candidate Chaudhry Yasin.

Rana Sanaullah urged the Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir and the Chief Election Commissioner to conduct an immediate inquiry and inform the public how the polling bags reached the candidate’s house. He called for the election in constituency LA-10 to be halted until the investigation is completed.

He said it must first be determined where the polling bags were taken and whether they had been tampered with. He further demanded a thorough investigation of Patwari Qaiser and Saqlain to ascertain whether similar alleged incidents had occurred elsewhere.

Rana Sanaullah noted that Chaudhry Yasin is not only a candidate from the constituency but also the President of PPP Azad Kashmir, making the allegations particularly serious and raising questions about the transparency of the electoral process.

He alleged that three presiding officers were transported in an official vehicle along with Saqlain, described as a close associate of Chaudhry Yasin, calling the development deeply concerning. He added that if such an incident could occur in an urban area, there should also be a comprehensive inquiry into what may have happened in remote regions.

The PML-N leader stated that his party would not accept the election results from the constituency until the facts are brought to light. He reiterated that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) believes in free, fair, and transparent elections.

Rana Sanaullah also directed party leaders, coordinators, and workers to ensure that polling bags are properly checked at every polling station before voting begins. He declared that “every lion of Nawaz Sharif will guard against vote thieves” and expressed confidence that, with public support, PML-N would emerge victorious in the Azad Kashmir elections.
