Despite Physical Disability, Mianwali Student Seeks Government Support to Pursue Higher Education

MIANWALI: Nineteen-year-old Sajawal Abbas from Punjab’s Mianwali district has become an inspiring example of determination and perseverance, overcoming physical disability and short stature to excel academically. However, financial hardship now threatens his dream of pursuing higher education, prompting him to appeal to the Punjab government for assistance.

A resident of Daud Khel in Mianwali, Sajawal said he never allowed his physical condition to become an obstacle to his education. Through hard work and dedication, he secured 900 marks in his matriculation examinations and later successfully completed his Intermediate (F.Sc.).

Despite his academic achievements, Sajawal said his family’s limited financial resources have made it difficult for him to continue his education at the university level.

According to his father, Sajawal is the only member of the family to have received formal education. He explained that he earns a living by herding sheep and goats and is unable to afford the expenses of his son’s higher studies.

Sajawal has appealed to the Punjab government to provide financial assistance so he can continue his education. He said that with the opportunity to complete his studies, he hopes to build a better future, support his parents, and make a meaningful contribution to society.

His story highlights the challenges faced by talented students from underprivileged backgrounds and underscores the importance of educational support for deserving youth with disabilities.
