Islamabad High Court Nominates Six Judges for Excellence Awards, Including Judge in £190 Million Case
ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court has nominated six judges from the district judiciary for awards in recognition of their outstanding performance. Among them is District and Sessions Judge Nasir Javed Rana, who delivered the verdict in the £190 million case involving former Prime Minister Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi.
The awards will be presented during the National Judicial Conference scheduled to be held at the Supreme Court of Pakistan on July 25, 2026.
According to reports, the Law and Justice Commission of Pakistan decided to honor judges from the district judiciary across the country for their exemplary performance and had requested all high courts to submit nominations. In response, the Chief Justice of the Islamabad High Court nominated one judge from each category and forwarded the list to the Commission.
The six judges nominated by the Islamabad High Court are District and Sessions Judge (West) Nasir Javed Rana, Judicial Magistrate (West) Mian Azhar Nadeem, Additional Sessions Judge Muhammad Sohail, Senior Civil Judge Mubashir Hassan, Civil Judge (East) Ayesha Shabbir, and Senior Civil Judge, Family Court, Sanam Bukhari.

The awards are scheduled to be conferred during the National Judicial Conference on the judiciary being held at the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
Judge Nasir Javed Rana previously served as the accountability court judge who, after three postponements, announced the verdict in the £190 million case. He sentenced Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder and former Prime Minister Imran Khan to 14 years’ imprisonment on charges related to corrupt practices and abuse of authority, while Bushra Bibi was sentenced to seven years’ imprisonment for her role in the case. The court also imposed fines of Rs1 million on Imran Khan and Rs500,000 on Bushra Bibi.
Subsequently, Judge Nasir Javed Rana was transferred from the accountability court following the announcement of the verdict. Under a notification issued by the Registrar of the Islamabad High Court, he was appointed as District and Sessions Judge (West), Islamabad.
The recognition of the six judges forms part of a nationwide initiative aimed at acknowledging excellence and professional merit within Pakistan’s district judiciary.
