Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has congratulated Spain on winning the FIFA World Cup 2026 and lauded the United States, Mexico, and Canada for successfully hosting the historic tournament. Spain defeated Argentina 1-0 after extra time in the final to claim its second FIFA World Cup title.
In his congratulatory message, the Prime Minister praised the Spanish national football team for its outstanding performance throughout the competition, describing its triumph as both remarkable and well deserved.
“I congratulate Spain on its magnificent and well-earned victory in the FIFA World Cup 2026,” he said, adding that the Spanish side demonstrated exceptional skill, unity, discipline, and teamwork during the tournament.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also extended his congratulations to U.S. President Donald Trump and the American people for their successful organization of the mega sporting event. He thanked the governments and people of Mexico and Canada for their partnership and contributions in hosting the World Cup.

The FIFA World Cup 2026, jointly hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada, concluded on July 19 with Spain lifting the trophy in New York New Jersey Stadium.
The Prime Minister further commended FIFA President Gianni Infantino and his team for the excellent organization of the tournament, saying their efforts would further strengthen football’s global appeal and significance.
Reflecting on the spirit of the event, Shehbaz Sharif stated that sport is a universal language that transcends borders and unites humanity. He expressed hope that the values of friendship, unity, and mutual respect witnessed during the tournament would continue to inspire people around the world long after the final whistle.
“My prayer is that this spirit of friendship and unity continues to guide us for years to come,” the Prime Minister said.
