Iran’s Supreme Leader Accuses US of Violating Memorandum, Vows Strong Response
Tehran:Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei, has accused the United States of repeatedly violating a signed memorandum of understanding between the two countries, warning that Iran will deliver a response “the US will never forget.”
According to Iran’s state broadcaster IRIB, Khamenei said the massive turnout at the funeral of his father, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, reflected the unity and determination of the Iranian people.
He claimed that while the funeral ceremonies were taking place, the United States continued to breach the signed memorandum of understanding with Iran. Khamenei said the repeated violations demonstrated that the US could not be trusted and that its commitments lacked credibility.
“The world has once again seen that the signature of the American president is unreliable and without value,” he said, accusing Washington of pursuing bullying, domination, and aggression as part of its foreign policy.
Khamenei further alleged that the United States was fueling conflict in the region and attempting to impose additional costs on Iran. However, he maintained that the Iranian nation and its armed forces were fully capable of responding to any threats.
He praised the people of southern Iran and what he described as the bravery of “the fighters of Islam,” while urging Iranians to preserve national unity and maintain confidence in state institutions.
“The enemy must not receive any sign of weakness from us,” Khamenei said, calling on citizens to remain united and steadfast in confronting current challenges.
Reaffirming Iran’s longstanding position, he stated that the country would not yield to pressure, threats, or military action and would take all necessary measures to safeguard its national interests, sovereignty, and security.
The remarks come as hostilities between Iran and the United States continue despite a previously announced ceasefire agreement that reportedly collapsed within days. Cross-border attacks have continued, while the Strait of Hormuz remains closed and the US blockade is ongoing, according to the report.
