Government Reduces Profit Rates on National Savings Schemes

Islamabad: The government has announced a reduction in the profit rates offered on various National Savings Schemes, according to an official notification.
Under the revised rates, the annual profit on the Behbood Savings Certificates and Pensioners’ Benefit Account has been set at 12.96 percent. The same annual profit rate of 12.96 percent will also apply to the Shuhada Family Welfare Account.
The monthly profit rate for the Regular Income Certificate has been fixed at 11.52 percent. As a result, an investment of Rs100,000 in the scheme will now yield a monthly profit of Rs960.
Meanwhile, the Special Savings Certificate will offer a profit rate of 11.2 percent for the first six months and 12.6 percent for the remaining six months of the investment period.
The revised rates are part of the government’s periodic adjustments to National Savings instruments, which are linked to prevailing economic and market conditions. The changes affect investors who rely on these schemes for regular income and long-term savings.
