Sindh Police Makes Prior Approval Mandatory for Officers’ Media Appearances

Karachi:** The Sindh Police has made prior approval mandatory for all media briefings and interviews by police officers, according to a new directive issued on the instructions of the Inspector General (IG) of Sindh.

The directive, issued by the Central Police Office through the Additional Inspector General (AIG) Operations, states that no police officer will be allowed to appear in the media without prior permission from the IG Sindh.

Under the new policy, officers must obtain advance approval before participating in television or radio programs, podcasts, press conferences, or any other official media engagements.

The order also requires prior authorization for appearances on digital media platforms and other public forums in an official capacity. Officers who receive approval will be required to limit their remarks strictly to the approved agenda.

In addition, the directive prohibits the disclosure of sensitive information related to ongoing investigations, intelligence, or operational matters.

Supervisory officers have been instructed to ensure strict compliance with the new guidelines, warning that violations will be taken seriously and may result in departmental disciplinary action.
