Hema Malini Wants Deepika Padukone to Play Her in a Biopic

MUMBAI: Veteran Bollywood actress Hema Malini has revealed that she would like Deepika Padukone to portray her if a biographical film is ever made about her life.

Hema Malini made the remarks during a special event at Shanmukhananda Hall in Mumbai, where her remarkable 60-year contribution to Indian cinema was celebrated.

When asked which actress she would choose to play her in a biopic, Hema Malini named Deepika Padukone, saying, “If Deepika is willing, she can play the role. Of course, any actress could do it, but Deepika is beautiful and immensely talented.”

The event paid tribute to Hema Malini’s six decades of achievements in Indian cinema, classical dance, and public service. It also honored the memory of her late husband, legendary actor Dharmendra, who passed away in November 2025 at the age of 89.

Hema Malini and Deepika Padukone have shared a long-standing association. In 2017, Hema invited Deepika to the launch of her autobiography. Additionally, Deepika’s debut Bollywood film Om Shanti Om featured the character Shantipriya, which has often been regarded as being inspired by Hema Malini’s iconic “Dream Girl” image.
